The Role

The organisation has embarked on a large cyber security uplift programs, which includes re-platforming a number of older systems (both COTS and in-house developed), upgrading out of date software packages, further locking down network access to systems, improving IT asset records and resolving known security issues.
The role will initially start in the Windows Server team, so the individual has an opportunity to learn common processes and the setup client-side. There will then be view for growth and the opportunity to become a part of the dedicated cyber-security project team in future.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure infrastructure components are performing optimally by managing, monitoring and diagnosing complex support requests, incidents and problems
  • Support the improvement of system operations by assisting in the implementation of technical solutions and/or processes that increase supportability, reliability, security, and performance and thereafter, ensuring adherence with such processes
  • Implement and contribute to procedure/policy reviews such as supporting code, design reviews and actively encouraging and fostering a strong team culture
  • Perform hands-on automation tasks to treat infrastructure as code
  • Maintain system documentation including disaster recovery plans to ensure information is current and accurate
  • Address security violation reports in order to ensure compliance and reduce risk
  • Aid in the implementation of systems solutions
  • Build and sustain effective working relationships with a network of colleagues, clients and stakeholders to facilitate cooperation and deliver services aligned with client needs

Key Skills

  • Windows server administration – minimum 5 years
  • AWS configuration and management – minimum 1 year
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts – minimum 2 years
  • Strong understanding of modern IT security practices – minimum 2 years
  • Strong understanding of common infrastructure automation methods – minimum 2 years
  • Puppet configuration skills – highly desirable but not essential
  • Scripting skills such as Powershell, Python or equivalent – minimum 3 years
  • Understanding of distributed version control systems such as git, TFS or similar
  • Customer service – minimum 3 years
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills – minimum 3 years
